I picked the Mosquito a new concept in fighter design.
Darn, I forgot the Typhoon from the poll. Sorry!
Went with the Spit, couple of reasons with all the different marks that were produced and not leaving full RAF service until 1954.
I chose the Bristol Beaufighter - I think it was the Warthog of its day.

british;Mosquito....fast, multi-role aircraft. You really have to admire the pilots who had the guts to fly a wooden fighter, too.
As Sir Winston Churchill said, "We have two heraahs for every Spit.". It is the plane that sticks in my mind the most. Whether it was the best, I don't know. But probably the most favorite and heard about.
typhoon is my fav fighter of ww2

my fav fighter of ww2 is the typhoon even with the problems it had.
My favorite is the torpedo bomber Swordfish. While a young lad in England I saw one and I built several models of them. It was out-classed in all categories. It flew low and slow and required a straight approach to it's target which made it very predictable and easy to shoot down. By WW II this bi-plane had been surpassed in all relevant factors except the courage of the pilots who flew against such high odds. And let us not forget that it was the Swordfish that found and crippled the German battleship Bismark. If the Bismark had escaped and gotten loose in the North Atlantic the Allied convoys would have suffered huge losses and the survival of England put in greater jeopardy.

* I guess I failed this test. I just noticed this vote was only for fighters of WW II. My vote goes to the F4U Corsair, used specifically by the Navy and Marines for close ground support in both WW II and Korea.
