an exceptionally well written, descriptive, humorous - and to an ex-serviceman - very evocative sample of what we had to live through to achieve acceptance in the new life we had been pitched into...The memories that survived the experience were always the good and happy ones - and fortunately they usually outnumbered the bad and miserable ones. A book I would recommend to the youth of to-day if they want an insight into how their grandfathers and fathers survived and matured to face the hazards of life.
