View Full Version : Switching to Vista
I think I may wait about 6 months to a year and see what service packs come out.
At this time I'm happy with XP

I think your right there matzos, ill wait and see if they up-date the drivers for my epson printer/scanner ( i was a beta tester for PRC1&2(pre release candidate)) these were very early versions of vista, and boy were they buggy, with my epson the printer drivers worked but the scanner didn't.
Vista's nice eye candy but has a lot of features that need new/up-dated hard wear to run, I.E. the glass effects will only work to there best if you have directx 10 and most graphic cards do not support directx 10 so youll need to buy a new one.
I did a check around some of the sections I know in the RAF. Some are still using NT with Office 97 and others XP pro with Office 2003.
It will be years before Vista is the standard in the RAF I think.
I'm unsure but I think that Microsoft will carry on supporting XP for a number of years yet.

I think I am on the same page as you. I down loaded the MS program to check for compatibility with vista. Only problem, which is will funny, is that I could not use McAfee security program which is provide by MS network. Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
laughsol; Please, isn't Mr Gates rich enough!? Bobcover;
The problems with Vista have started.

The most nasty one is if you are using speech recognise software, and visit a Malicious site it could down load an mp3 and tell your computer to start deleting files. :confused:

My friend is a computer expert and runs his own business, told me today that he tried Vista over the weekend and it removed most of his files and he had to re-organise his computer.
He’s now advises his customers not to use Vista unless they are purchasing a computer for the first time.
