Brothers there is something that most veterans and even fewer citizens of the United States, nay, the world, are aware of and that is our veterans who are Missing In America. Rather than get into a long discussion of this issue I will simply post the Mission Statement of the Missing In America Program/Project for you to view. Any questions or comments can be rendered here after that or by emailing me directly at rocky173abnc75rgr@yahoo.com .

Missing in America
– Veteran Recovery Program

A joint effort between the Patriot Guard Riders, Veterans Administration, Veterans Administration National Cemeteries and other national organizations.

Mission Statement:

The purpose of the MIA Project is to locate, identify and intern the unclaimed cremated remains of veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. To provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.

History:

During an inventory of a crematorium, two cremation urns were discovered in a closet storage facility. The urns contained the unclaimed remains of Sgt. Trueman, a veteran of the Vietnam conflict and his wife (also a veteran). The year of death for Sgt. Trueman was 1979. For twenty-seven years, the resting place for Sgt. and Mrs. Trueman was a storage facility in a crematorium. Other funeral homes and crematoriums were inventoried. Other unclaimed remains of veterans were discovered.

In November 2006, the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery interned twenty-one cremated remains of forgotten veterans with full military honors and the dignity these fallen heroes so richly deserve.

This incident inspired the MIA Project and the inclusion the Patriot Guard Riders within the MIA Project.

Scope:

The MIA Project will be two fold. The initial focus of the MIA Project will be a massive, nation-wide effort to locate, identify and intern the unclaimed remains of forgotten veterans. This task will be executed through the combined, cooperative efforts of members of the Patriot Guard Riders, other volunteer service and veteran organizations, local Funeral Homes, State Funeral Commissions, State and National Veterans Administration Agencies, and the State and National Veterans Cemetery Administrations. Local, state and national laws must be followed in the identification, claiming process and proper interment of the unclaimed remains forgotten veterans.

This will be a lengthy project and will require many man-hours to ensure that we have done our utmost to discover every forgotten veteran and procure each a dignified resting place. This will also be a labor of love, a task of redemption, for a debt of service that can never be repaid.

The second phase of the MIA Project will be the creation of a network of individuals working with the local Funeral Homes, State, and National Agencies to ensure that the cremated remains of any unclaimed veteran can be identified, claimed and interned in a timely manner. This will be an ongoing project and will most likely be a cooperative effort between many voluntary service organizations.

From email

A friend sent me a website for a TV station broadcast regarding your project. This is unexceptable that our veterans are forgotten. Please let me know if you have a volunteer group in Texas and how I might contact them. I take my husband to the VA hospital Houston and it is truly sad some of the sights there. I do take care of my husband so I am limited as to ways I can contribute or volunteer but I would like to know how I can help.

Thanks!!!!!
