I’m sure I read the pilots lips right when he spoke, he said, “Hi Silky give my regards to Bombardier and tell him the Militaryimages site is fantastic.”

It's impressive. The official Soviet designation was "crocadile" or something, Hunchback was a soldiers nickname. Basically, it was a very tough machine but underpowered and not maneuverable. You don't see them doing a lot of fancy flying, just straight and level and standard rate turns.

I rolled on the floor laughing when all those troops were jumping out the door. It reminded me of those clown cars at the circus. The aircraft seats twelve but couldn't get off the ground with more then six or eight if they were carrying gear. I have seen fifty guys get out of a Huey that was sitting on the ground. Of course, they were running around behind the camera man and getting back on the other side.

In the mid '70's a Cobra met a Hind on the West German border. In the ensuing game of cat and mouse, the Hind was faster (by about 30 knots) but tended to overshoot badly and then was at the mercy of the more maneuverable Cobra. The game ended when the Hind crashed.

All the same, I wouldn't want to be in his sights.
