View Full Version : RAF Photographers Competition
I have just added a new album with imagery from the 2006 Royal Air Force Photographers Photographic Competition.
This Competition is open to both Service and Civilian photographers working for the RAF.
RAF Photo Comp (http://www.militaryimages.net/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=799)
I still have some more to add, including the overall winner
Hi, I am pleased to see this years photo comp picutes on-line - at last, after seaching everywhere! I realise this is primarily a 'military' image site, but will you be putting any of the sports category winners on the site?
We - as military personel - are serving in the middle east and trying to get access to certain things in the UK is not always the easiest thing to do, as with these comp photos, so would be pleased to see them if they are going on-line.
Cheers Mas

I dont see a problem with photos like that being posted on our forums, they could be posted in the Bunker by using our free image host.
Unfortunately I dont want to complicate the main galleries by posting none military pics.
Perhaps even in the Photography forum, should anybody have access to these pics (Y)
Ps welcome to MI.net Mas
To show how difficult it is out here, this site, which appears to have some of the photos on, has been 'unilateraly banned' by Omantel our local ISP

Why, you might well ask? Look at the title - it has the word 'unveiled' in it, and in a Muslim country this site has been banned, more than likely because of the use of this word!! If anyone can contact this site, please ask them to change the word to something less 'provocative' then I might be able to access it!!!

Hi masarelle welc.to the site.
When I posted some of the entries from this years competition I only submitted the ones with a true military theme. I still have a number to resize and then added to the album.
Over a 1,000 images were submitted to the competition and these will be going on-line at the Defence Image Data (http://www.defenceimagedatabase.mod.uk/fotoweb/) Hopefully they will be posting all of them.
I do know that the RAF Sports Board with be using all the Sports category imagery for all their displays.
As you maybe aware, the RAF catergory winners, along with th Navy and the Army winners, were then entered into the "Defence Photographic Competition". The results came out this week. I do not have the full list with me, but the RAF got first and second place in the category of Best Defence Equipment and I think first in the digital category. I'm now away from my desk for the next 2 weeks, but on my return I will post the complete winners list.
Hi Matzos and Bambardier and thanks for your welcome to the site.
Will look out for the other possible sites you mention. Yes I know about the MOD competition, which is why I am trying to see the pictures - my son won the Sports category (RAF comp) and was runner-up in the MOD Comp (I assume sports category again) but it looks like I am going to have to await the arrival of the RAF News in the next week or so to (hopefully) see the picture!
Life out here can get frustrating!
Many thanks
Mas
Hi masarelle
I've posted a thread in the Bunker - Sports Winner (http://www.militaryimages.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5309) with a image with I hope is from your son.
Matzos, Many thanks for taking the time to post the photo, especially when you are going away. That is the photo - dont know where it was taken, probably Lossiemouth - but I am so pleased to see it after knowing, months ago, that he won the category.
Many thanks, patriot; have a good time away.
Mas
