I just finished a novel by Richard Galli - Of Rice and Men. It's subtitle is "If war is hell, imagine army farming." Boy, I can really identify with it. The author is a member of the same unit as I (29th Civil Affairs Coy). He was with a different platoon in a different province as I, but our MOS was the same..04B2LVS..interpreter-translator. The story he tells, in general, is pretty much my story..not everything of course, but his experience was much like mine.
The style is much like Catch-22 but, hey, army farming sure was governed by Article 22. If you want to know about a little known part of the war, pick it up.
