Hello,

I've started a website for pride in Britain and i've tried ages to find a great selection of photo's of Britain's past and also times during wartime.

Most you have to pay for, which to me is wrong. It should all be publicly available.

Anyone got any great links or places to look for such images?

I've used two from the Military Images gallery so I could set them as a category images so I hope that is okay?

Many thanks.

The images you have used were uploaded by a member and are copyright to them, Im sure that he will not mind you using some of his images as long as proper credit is given to himself and MilitaryImages.Net.

Welcome GB Pride.

Looked at your site, it is obviously set up for the right reasons, but how do you control the obvious influx of bigotted and racists posts that a site of this nature will attract?.

The site looks great and I once considered setting up something similar but because of the above I felt I would be on a hiding to nothing . Anyway good luck with it (Y)

Thanks for the confirmation, I have credited them to the site and member and also added this site to the links directory on mine.

At first it was called GR8B as a bit of fun for text speak to attract everyone to talk about this great country. Then I thought it's not really the correct language for talking about Britain and it's roots so re-named to GB Pride. Plus, others said calling a site GR8B did not show much pride in the name, etc.... You can't please everyone!

At the moment, there area a few debates about some heated topics, from both sides. These are restrcited to certain threads to stop it overflowing onto the entire forum. I will be removing and moving some threads soon when i'm back from holiday as some have spilled out. In time, people will learn how to use the site. I want to give people the freedom to express themselves and talk about what they want to talk about without it becoming too heated or personal and restricting them too much. This way, they can find answers to any questions and possibly learn about new things.

I'm proud of my heritage and culture and noticed no sites out there probably because of what you said, but I thought i'd give it a go and see what happens. I welcome anyone, others are not like that and moderating the site helps. Hopefully it will attract more people for the right reasons in time.

I really do wish you luck with it mate, it is a great idea, just a shame that there will be people hell bent on turning it into something else.

I too am very proud of my British Heritage and Culture and will pop over and join in a while.

I'm not British so I don't quite follow, what's the problem with this kind of site? Britain has a great history and lot of things to be proud of. Some not so admirable things might have happened, but I think there's not a single nation without such things in their history. Great looking site, good luck with it! (Y)

I think the problem Mineman65 is that there are a lot of people who will use their British pride to promote racism and such like.
Although they may be few and far between.
Looks like Neal is doing a great job at the moment moderating the site which is now renamed as 'TalkBritain'
Well done Neal (Y)

Apologies for the problems you have experienced. Can you contact me via a PM on this forum with your e-mail and I will look into this. I've not had any e-mails from anyone reporting their e-mail address is blocked. I do use a system that blocks people using "free" e-mail accounts that are known to be used by spammers so it looks like it may have been on that list.

Once again, please accept my apologies.
