In the states a person can get needed information from any Veteran Administration outreach clinic. Counseling is available to any vet (assuming USA only) free of charge. Some of the States have Veteran branches that can help a vet file a claim. Many of the veteran service organization do the same, Such as American Legion, AM VETS, DAV, and some other.
For those of the Christian Faith, there is Pointman Ministries. A great group of guys that will add the added healing power that is in faith.
A good book for Viet-Nam Veterans is "Recovering from the War" by Patience Mason. Her husband wrote of his experience as a chopper pilot (I Think) in his book, "Chicken Hawk".
VA also offers support for family members of the Vet. Such as for spouse there is counseling and group meetings.
