HMS Gloucester in Beirut, Lebanon

Over five hundred British nationals and other entitled people have left Lebanon onboard British naval vessels HMS Gloucester and HMS York as hostilities between Israel and Lebanon continue.

HMS Gloucester sailed through the night and arrived at Larnica, Cyprus where the passengers disembarked. Gloucester then turned around and is currently en route back to Lebanon to collect more British nationals who want to leave.

Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious and the amphibious assault ship HMS Bulwark have arrived on station in the eastern Mediterranean in case their assistance is needed. Six Sea King helicopters from 846 Naval Air Squadron, RNAS Yeovilton, are due to arrive at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus tonight. These will supplement the three RAF Chinooks already in theatre.

RAF C130 transport aircraft and other transport assets are also now providing an airbridge between the UK and Cyprus to carry essential supplies to support the military operation.

I wish them all the best in their efforts to get everyone and themselves out safely.
