Hello, Years ago, while a member of Usareur in the 1970's, I was lucky enough to have completed the commando course given by the French Army. The training center that I had attended was located in Kiel (sp?), France. The link above I had posted depicts the certification badge given at course completion, except that mine had a number seven instead of the number ten in the image.

I had misplaced that badge years ago, and would like to find a replacement. Would anyone know of any place that I could get another? Would the source need to see a copy of my completion certificate (which I still have)? I'm specifically looking for a badge from THAT training center (number seven, as it was the one that I'd attended).

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and BTW, I unfortunately do not speak French at all; which I'm sure, adds to the complications.

Hey,

I read your note, I also have been looking for the number seven badge. I still have mine however the tip of the sword is missing and I have been trying to find a replacement. I am currently in the the Vermont National Guard and wold like to find a way to get another badge to wear with my uniform. I went through my training in 1976. If you have found a way to replace the one you lost please drop me a line I would love to get another one.

Hi,

Try contacting this Sergeant on the link (via email). He's American and spent some time in the FFL so speaks fluent French. He may be able to get you in contact with someone who can help you both out.

I have a couple of badges. I was lucky enough to attend in 1990. Great time.

Wow! Great, thanks! I haven't stopped by this forum for a while but now I'm glad that I did. I see the exact thing that I need on the first page of the link. Thanks again :)

I was wondering if anyone else is having a very hard time finding replacements. The tip of the sword has come off my insignia and the above webiste does not have a listing for one with the number 10 in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I find this all very fascinating. Please, those Americans that attended this training with the French Commandos, share with us the circumstances of assignment to it and the training and certifications awarded at graduation. If you were not fluent in French, I assume they spoke English ? Or possibly language wasn't a barrier, physical conditioning and training and one-on-one instruction has a language of it's own. No pain, no gain !
