The film rights to ‘The Dam Busters’ has been bought and the new owner is after do a remake of the movie using all of today’s modern computer animations to make it more realistic.
However, without be derogatory, what will they call Wing Cmdr. Guy Gibson, VC, DSO, DFC, dog. Will they still call it ******, or will they leave it out of the picture altogether because of the new anti social laws?
I believe that if you are portraying history then you should do so in its entire context, and not to be to Machiavellian with the truth.

Once the above information was put on site I couldn’t help but notice that a certain word beginning with N was removed. Is this censorship gone mad?
The word would have been removed because it is classed as offensive. When the words ‘F*** off’ is spoken it is normally used in an offensive manner so why is that not removed.
This is just my ranting about the English language. I think that words are only offensive when use in an offensive manner.

It's to being made by the guy who did 'Lord of the Rings'. He has already filmed shots of Lanc's flying.
Should be a good one to watch out for.

Ah well, if its got Lancs in it, that removes ONE of my major concerns...
...though I suppose they might be flown by 'Eagle Squadron' pilots in the same pseudo-historical/NON-historical way the term was used in the film Pearl HarbOur...

...& the fact is, the dog was called what the dog was called...or are they going to MISS whichever dam it was that had the dogs name as codeword for its successful destruction? (sorry, cant remember which it was & no point in looking it up is there, I think my point is made...)
Lest anyone thinks I'm being anti-American here I'm not...just anti-Hollywood.

Good points all round (Y)
The problem with the word ****** here on this site is that it could potentially be used to offend, as a result I have had to add it to our list of banned words and as such is edited automatically.
In this context and with the understanding that we all have about it, it would be acceptable however I have no way of letting it be displayed without removing it from the banned word list.
Perhaps I am being overly protective but i hope you can see my point.
For those that are unaware the dog was called 'N i g g e r' and I make that point purley on an historical footing (Y)

Well said Bombardier,
The Lancaster use in the move is the Pride of Lincoln and is the only flying Lancaster in Europe. I often see it flying down the Trent Valley with a Spitfire and Hurricane.
The gun turrets and weapons where made in Rose's factory which is 250 yards away from where I live on the side of the River Trent.
