View Full Version : My Great Great Grandfather
was Samuel Lawton who was a Master Potter from Burslem , Straffordshire , England. My great Grandfather was Herny Lawton born May 10 , 1838. They came to the States in the 1840's. Any ideas how I could gather some more information about these men ? Thanks in advance !

Hi DMZ-LT, there are a lot of Geneology sites out there, not sure which would be the best to choose though, another would be to try and contact the parish records office in Burslem, Staffordshire. They may be able to provide your some information also.
Here is a link to some infor that may get you started http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/STS/

I guessed you maybe meant 'Henry' Lawton, so I did a search on www.familysearch.org (http://www.familysearch.org) & found this, as an example:
(Edited because the link would not connect to the search results, however, there were a lot of results for the same name)
Yep its Henry , thanks again !

This has to be the best site on the web for information. If you can't find something here, you won't be able to find anything. It's a pay site for the use of their resources, but you get the first 3 days free and access to everything. I sucked up those 3 days searching everything they had in that time. The US census info is excellent and goes back as far as the early 1800's. I also made use of the Library of Congress archives, VA archives and the NARA resources.
