As a result of an email I received today, I have decided to post a list of ways that members and visitors can help MI.Net. Most of these suggestions are simple and cost nothing.
Send an E card to a friend
Send a Gallery Link to a friend
Visit our Sponsors links at the top of every page
Buy your Books,Dvd's etc via our Amazon portal (the shop link at the top of every page)
Make a donation - any money received will assist in paying our server fees and developing Mi.net further.
Word of Mouth - tell people about us. They dont have to be military buffs or serving or retired, they may have information/photos about a family member (grandad/dad/mother etc) who they would like to honour by posting some or all of their photos to our site (this is the primary goal of Mi.net after all)
Let us know about any problems you encounter when using the site, broken links, incorrect information, error messages etc. This will help me keep our site well maintained and up to date.
Get stuck in, nobody on our site will be flamed, insulted, verbally abused because of an error in a post or information they post, they will be corrected of course but respectfully - You have my word that anybody openly abusing another user will be dealt with and the post either removed or edited - to continue would either mean a permanent or temporary ban from the site.
Use the reputation feature, you will find this iconhttp://www.militaryimages.net/forums/images/buttons/reputation.gif top right of any post made . If a user makes a post you think requires a pat on the back give them positive feedabck this will increase there http://www.militaryimages.net/forums/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif. If however you are not happy with the post give them negative feedback , this will reduce the greens and eventually for someone who is so bad they continually make bad posts the will, turn red http://www.militaryimages.net/forums/images/reputation/reputation_neg.gif.The purpose of this system is to enbale all users to moderate other users. I know what your thinking, people will abuse the system because they simply dont like another user, well systems are in place to prevent this and will become apparent the more you use it.Thanks for reading this post. Ive said it before and Ill say it again.
"This is our site not mine" we make it what it is by getting stuck in and using it for what it is intended.
Its a labour of love for me not a money making machine. solthum
