I am somewhat loathed to ask this and I have tried to avoid it at all costs.

What do you all think about me placing a donations button on our site. It will enable anybody to make a donation to us which will be used to support our site.

To put you in the picture.

We are very quickly using up our webspace, we have at the moment 700 mb and we have used near to 370mb. The cost of the web space and server services is approx £190 per year. now if we carry on the way we are going and I hope we do we will certainly have used up that space by the end of the year and will need to at least double our web space to 1.5 Gb.

I must stress to you all that donations will not be expected only thankfully received and if we receive no donations at all the site will still continue, it just means myself and viking will have to dig a bit deeper.

As I have always said, this is our site and the decision will be ours and not mine. If anybody has any reservations then please let me know. I wont be offended.I am however a little embarassed to ask this question.

I have also placed a POLL above this post so if you dont want to say anything in particular, then just cast your vote and we will review the situation in one months time.

I thankyou all very very much for your input and assistance in making this site the great friendly place it is today.

Not only is it a good idea, it also needs to be kept at the top of the postings. If it get buried it will be forgotten. So I'm bumping it back to the top of the list.

I have placed the donations button at the bottom of every forum page. I will leave the Poll running and if it is decided that we do not want the button at the end of the month I will remove it. :D

Keep it going for a while longer - I need to earn cash before I can pop some money in - it's worth it!

Bombardier,
Why remove the request after a month?
It is perfectly reasonable to ask for donations.
I suggest you just leave it on the Forum, and make it 'Sticky' so it's always at the top, or even better, create a SPECIAL FORUM which cannot be added too.
You have nothing to be ashamed of in asking for financial assistance to keep this Site up and running, you and Viking devote a lot of time to OUR SITE.
All I would suggest is that you give a name and address to send cheques, as in my experience, most people are reluctant to give credit card or bank details over the net.
Good Luck with your appeal.
Derrick.
