First I would like to thank Bombardier for the excellent information on PTSD. It's the best information - clear and concise - I've seen outside of books and professional websites on the subject.

I've just recently started to take a small step to finding out whether I have PTSD or not. Just finding the courage to get help has taken me years.

I'm going to do a walk for two charities raising awareness on child abuse and PTSD. I'm planning for it to take place in 2009 in Antarctica, during the Antarctican winter.

I know it seems a 'tad' crazy, but I truly believe that if I can survive what life's thrown at me so far, then I can survive the coldest and harshest environment on earth. I think all it takes is planning, preparation and being slightly nutty. :)

To prepare I'm setting myself a few other challenges in cold environments, plus there is a number of things I need to learn before I can actually do the walk in Antarctica, which is why it's not sooner.

I will let you know more and put the website link on here, closer to the event.

Thank you for your kind words. sal;

It's funny how when I mention my goal to anyone who is (ex-/)military I get lots of support.

But when I mention it to someone who has always been a civvie, then I get looks of disbelief and get treated like I'm out of my mind (which I am, but that's beside the point ;) ).

Anyway, will let you know more about my objectives at a later stage.

Nothing unusual in that Arctic Wolf, its just a fact that they have never and probably never will, see life for real. They are civvies and as such live a cosseted life and leave the real world activities to the likes of "us".
Go for it and good luck with your venture.
