Personally I think it's a great bit of kit, but I'm not sure it's appropriate to our role here and now in the 21st Century.
In the late 80s/early nineties when this weapon system was concieved and should have been delivered it was ideal to couter aircraft such as the MiG-29 and Su-30/37 series from the former Soviet Union and allies, but now I can't help wondering if it's come to late.
Typhoon is a superb air combat platform which by all accounts will out-maneouvre just about most if not all of the aircraft currently flying - RAF pilots say it will even wax the F-22's ass..............that I would like to see.
IMO, we should by the air defence version of Typhoon, but cut-down, if not abandon the strike version in favour of more F-35 JSFs which are already on order. What our current idiot-leader and his team of poorly trained monkeys will do is anyone's business, but there my six-pennyworth.
It is nice to have a typhoon flying again as its predecessor was a hell of a plane aswell vik, viki;
I agree with Sniper. This is very good plane, but idea by design is obsolete.
