My turn to ask for a little help.

i have just received a cannon ball

its been bronze plated at some time and has the word "Ubique" on the plinth,
The dimensions are width 5 inch(25.4 Ml) weight, 11Lb (5Kg)

what i need to know is what cannon fired this projectile

Just looking about now mate. My first observation is that the likely hood of anybody being able to obtain the information you seek is very slim, unless of course you know the weight and thickness of the bronze plating. :)

My second observation is that the calibre once known (in anticipation of the above question) may be a kin to any number of cannons ship or land borne.

But I will endeavour to find what you seek young fellow me lad blah,

Is there a possibility that this artifact may be strictly ornamental or possibly a ceremonial piece?

Bomber, do you think this could be ornamental 12-pounder, or a competition trophy connected to The Royal Artillery, going by the 'Ubique' engraving?

Yes mate it could well be ornamental.I certainly cant find any reference to it that would suggest otherwise.
