This is not a personal query, but one by the Bovington Tank Museum, which I thought the members here might be interested in and if anyone can help, then it's you lot here!
I picked up a copy of the latest 'Military Modelling' magazine and found these couple of pics accompanying a letter from David Fletcher at the Museum. The question is: Does anyone know what armoured regiment is operating the Sherman MarkII DD(M4A1) tanks in the photographs? These were taken on or about 23rd June 1944 and the crew wear berets, which give a choice of British & Commonwealth troops, or Poles, etc., but not Americans. The location is given as Douet.
These Shermans have had their canvas shrouds removed, but coamings left in place. One has the large turret number '71' - which appears newly-painted on the turret left front face. The MarkII in the other pic has a white allied star on the left rear side of the turret.
If you can help, or recognise the location and the tanks, contact the Military Modelling editor, Ken Jones, as follows:-

email - Editor@militarymodelling.com
Tel/Fax - 01525 370389

All information received will be forwarded to David Fletcher at Bovington.

Bomber, hope you don't mind these pics attached here, but It's all in a good cause, I think! I have scanned larger copies of these pictures. If anyone wants them, PM me.
