Remembrance services are being held in Russia to mark five years since the Kursk submarine sank in the Barents Sea after a torpedo exploded on board.
Flags were flown at half mast on all Russian navy vessels and sailors observed a minute of silence.
Church services were being held in Moscow, St Petersburg and at the sub's base of Vidyayevo. A new monument was being unveiled in the city of Kursk.
