Historians are campaigning for a loosening of council red tape to allow a road to be named after a Battle of Britain hero during his lifetime.
Wing Cdr Bob Doe, 85, flew Spitfires in the World War II battle and was one of the most successful pilots.
The Battle of Britain Historical Society wants a road in Wing Cdr Doe's home town of Crowborough, in East Sussex, to be named after him.
