The explanation being given by one of the American soldiers being investigated is that he asked for "instructions and proper training" and it was not given.
I'm sorry...that is totally ludicrous in my book. Since when do adults raised in a civilized society need training on how NOT to act like barbarians?
This is a lack of COMMON SENSE, not TRAINING.
Besides, in basic training EVERY American soldier is familiarized with the fundamentals of the Geneva Convention and what to expect under the GC regulations if ever captured.
This conduct is going to endanger even more the safety of every Briton and American in the Middle East.
Punishment should be swift, sure, and firm.
