Computer Does Not Shut Down Properly

I thought shut down problems would be over with Windows XP! I guess it's not time yet. If you're having problems with your computer shutting down when you click the shut down button in the Start menu, the culprit could be a USB device. There's something called "Selective Suspend" that can interfere with your computer shutting down properly if you have two USB devices from the same manufacturer. Click below for more information and how to fix:

How to Enable the NUM LOCK Key at XP Bootup

Why do they always disable the NUM LOCK key at system startup? Don't they know that everybody just turns it on again? Well, if you're tired of playing this game, here's a how to article on how to enable the NUM LOCK on system bootup so you never enter a bad password because the darned number pad wasn't enabled yet. Computer Restarts Instead of Shutting Down

You're done working for the day and you want to shut down your Windows XP computer. You click Start and then click the Shut Down button and select the Shut Down option. But instead of shutting down, the computer restarts! Why? According to Microsoft Support, it could be that you selected the wrong option (wrong!) or you have Roxio CD Creator 5.0 or Direct CD 5.0 installed on XP. The answer? Uninstall the program and harass Roxio for the fix!! Boy, it just doesn't get any better than that:

Gag the WPA Worm for Reinstallation

Are you tired of seeing the WPA Worm show up after you reinstall Windows XP on the same computer? It's not like you wanted to reinstall, but you had to in order to fix something XP broke! Well, if you don't feel like being insulted by the WPA Worm again after reinstalling on the same computer, just perform the following steps:
Before you reinstall, copy the wpa.dbl file to another location on the hard disk on to a network location. Use the Search feature to find the file.
Go ahead and reinstall Windows XP. After the reinstall is complete, restart the machine in Safe Mode.
After booting into the system, use the Search feature to find the new wpa.dbl file. Right click on the file and click Rename. Change the name to wpa.noact.
Copy the wpa.dbl file to the same location where it was, which is the system32 folder.
Restart the computer. You will not be asked to activate the computer again!
