Windows software runs on 90% of personal computers worldwide

Microsoft, the world's largest software maker, has said the next version of its much-delayed operating system will be known as Windows Vista.

The software, until now known by its code name Longhorn, is due for release towards the end of 2006, half a decade after the launch of Windows XP. To hit the deadline Microsoft has already taken out a number of features it had promised for the system. A test version will be released by 3 August, the Seattle-based firm said.

Like with all Microsoft Operating Systems, in the long time we will be made to use them due to the fact that Software designers will only produce software to round on the newer OS, So we the public will have to go out and purchase the new OS or even a newer PC.

True..

Hardware requirements change around every twelve months now with new motherboards and graphics cards being produced. Its hard to keep up with it all. Unless your a serious gamer it doesnt effect some people though.

With this new Operating System comes as usual an increase in system requirements I believe that 'Vista' needs a high spec PC to even run on. (I'll post details on that when I find them) :)
