I've just seen a Hercules aircraft over the Firth of Clyde, at the entrance to Loch Long, on what seems to be an exercise. Firstly 2 x double cargo chutes were deployed, with what I think were small boats slung under them, followed down by a string of 9 parachutists. All parachutes were the rectangular-shaped ones, in a bright blue colour.
By the time I got my wits together, grabbed my camera & got out to a better vantage position, they had all splashed down & assembled. The distance was too great for a decent pic, even with my camera's limited zoom. All I could see was the wake of their boats as they zoomed about a bit and the MOD tender/rescue vessel stationed nearby. I've seen these exercises before, but this is the first time I've seen boats dropped. Possibly SBS/SAS Boat Troop?

Good luck to them all anyway and I'm glad we've got people like them in our forces.

Your very lucky to be in a position to see such a spectacle :)

I wish I could see stuff like that

I feel lucky about that too, Bombardier. Just wish I'd gotten out sooner to grab a few pics, couldn't even video it, my son's borrowed my videocamera! Maybe next time........

It was SBS jumping that day. I have jumped at that location a few times, every year there is a joint Seal, SAS and SBS exercise called SkinDoooo. Much fun. Have some pictures myself might post them.

Sorry mate, just noticed your reply! Thanks for the info. Why not register and upload your pics? They would be much appreciated by everyone here, as would any other input you may have.
