During the Battle of Britain, 147 Polish airmen flew fighter aircraft. The top ten fighter aces included a Pole and to quote Len Deighton in his seminal work Fighter ..."Poles...were not permitted to participate in the air fighting until they had mastered the rudiments of the English language and flying procedures. When they did start operations these homeless men, motivated often by a hatred bordering upon despair, fought with terrible and merciless dedication".
Off topic but staying Polish, it was the Polish Intelligence Service that gave the British and the French the headstart needed in cracking the German Enigma Code.
In december 1932 polish matematic-criptic team (Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Rozycki and Henryk Zygalski) from University Poznan was cracking the German Enigma Code. In august 1939 Polish Intelligence Service gave the British and the French Enigma Code. When war was started Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Rozycki and Henryk Zygalski was evacueted to France with all equiptment from polish center cryptic from Pyry . After capitulation France they was still work in France. In 1943 Marian Rejewski and Henryk Zygalski were escaped to England. Jerzy Rozycki was killed in ship catastrof. Only Marian Rejewski was come back after war to Poland. Henryk Zygalski was stay in emigration.

Head of Intelligence bureau Biuro Szyfrow, Major Gwido Langer, successor to Pokorny of that institute said to Frenchman Betrand, a French intelligence agent (who had complained that French code breaking was nowhere near the Polish effort) "You don't have the same motivation as we do". Very true!
As I remember, the Polish were also the first to get the V1 flying bomb bits to Britain as well. Am I correct on this Polar?
Yes. Intelligence Home Army (Armia Krajowa) was capture V1 and give to England.
Home Army was polish army in occupyed by German and Soviet Poland. This was greatest resistance in Europe.
Thank you for that!
Let's try not to drub the French with that last statement! I agree with you though, for all the activities carried out by the Polish resistance, they produced (IMO) by far the most intelligence and results.
