Here's one to throw open to members and guests.

Does anyone have any links to sites that may have information on German units based a Graz and Schwadorf in Austria around 1944.

Thanks

1944... Don't know BUT from spring 1941 to súmmer 1943 part's of Finnish volunteer SS-Bn.: III (finn.)/Norland/Wiking
were stationed in Graz (replacement comppany).
Whole Bn was also trained in Stralsund and Wien in summer 1941.

BTW the finnish volunteer SS-Bn was stablished into Waffen-SS in spring 1941. Its mission was to get training in modern warfighting and bring knowlege in to Finland. Bn was trained to be motorized infantry and fighted also in eastern front as a elite Bn of Wiking division. Bn was whitdrawn in the summer 1943. Former SS-men served afterwards in Finland's regular army. The knowlege of men were put in good use as very many of the men served in Armor Division (Only so called "elite" division of Finland 1943 to 1945)

Finns wanted Bn to be part of Wehrmacht not SS, but in political pressure finns agreed to put it in Waffen-SS. Germans idea of establishing Finnish SS-Bn was to get a "hostage" that finnish goverment won't do peace with russians wihtout germany's permission...
