What does PALS stand for? I think it has to do with the formation of (infantry?) Regiments?
Thanks!

Well I think what you are refering to was the name given to particular Battalions that were formed during WW1. The word Pal means friend, just like buddy, matey or chummy. so If I were in the WW1 era and lived in an area say called Blackburn for example. We would all join togeather and be the Blackburn Pals. Im sure I am right about this, but if anybody wishes to correct me feel free to do so  :P
Just had a surf and I was kind of correct see here for more information (http://www.firstworldwar.com/atoz/palsbattalions.htm)
