View Full Version : Conflict Section
First off like my friend , Drywall , I appreciate just being here on your site with people that share a love of the military. I am a PF refugee. How about a conflicts section ie: WWI , wwii , Korea , VietNam , Faulkland islands , etc. I am a Viet Nam vet and miss having a site where I can go and talk to my Viet Nam Vet brothers. I have been talking to some people for over 4 years now and in the last two years we have gathered in different parts of the country to meet each other in person This site being more international I could also learn more from other brothers about their conflicts. Just a thought. Thanks again for this site. Peace

Good suggestion, John. Eagledriver and several of these Brits are Desert Storm Vets. I'd sure like to hear some of their experiences in their war. Also, this might entice some other members to participate. I notice that, like PF, there are quite a few members here, but only a handful of the same people post.
JUMP IN HERE, FOLKS! Don't be shy.

Good point. It's almost become Britain's Vietnam......been there for MANY years with no easy, graceful way out.
The politics involved in the province end up making Watergate look like a stroll in the park! :x
I went twice and got mortared once - in Crossmaglen. There were good and funny sides to NI tours but when we went South that vanished. I remember working with various units down there, including the Royal Marines (42Commando) and some of the "Tiptoe Boys" the SAS. My side of work was very much sneaky beaky and is not yet in the public domain but wothwhile as it was, fanaticism is very difficult to overcome; see also Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and Kosovo. Other areas that our members may have served?!
If we had more Aussies on here, i would suggest east Timor, i didn't go though, my only veterancy was security on the Sydney olympics
