Two part answer please.

We are all familiar with the British Army's SA80 - what was the calibre and designation of the original version developed by RSAF Enfield during the mid-late 70s, and what was the name/calibre of its look-alike predecessor of the 1950s?

to answer the first part of your question that would be the 4.85 enfield personal weapon and the second part of which i am not as confident may be the 7mm EM-2 rifle ,

how did i do? :|

Yes, pretty good - Actually 4.85mm Individual Weapon. The 1950s rifle was indeed the 7mm (or .280/30 - US .30-06 case shortened/necked to .280) EM2.

Well done.
